The craft of thrum knitting originally came from England and Ireland. The word thrum is a word associated with English woolen mills, the thrums being the leftover warp ends in weaving. Thrumming is a knitting technique that has provided warm winter-wear for generations. Thrums, wisps of raw fleece, are twisted and knitted at regular intervals into the product. The thrum ends fluff on the inside producing a warm cozy item of clothing that envelopes you like a cloud. All of the thrum products made at Green Acres Alpaca Store are hand knit locally.
